Overview

Facilitated and initiated by the SLG young people’s forum, the Art Assassins, The Banquet is an evening of exchange and reflection on the immediate legacy of the August riots. In the months since the riots, the Art Assassins have begun to construct a response using their informal discussions and collective research as a starting point. As part of their response, artist and composer Trevor Mathison (formerly of the Black Audio Film Collective) has worked with the Art Assassins to develop a digital photo essay to accompany and expand upon their publication titled, Voice of the Voiceless. This evening serves as a platform for the Art Assassins to present the culmination of this work and to debate new responses.
